About Seat
Seat is a Spanish car brand. The company, Sociedad Espanola de Automoviles de Turismo, was established on May 9, 1950. The Spanish National Institute of Industry, seven Spanish banks and Fiat set it up. The Spanish government sold Seat to the Volkswagen Group in 1986.12
The main plant is in Martorell. Production moved there from Barcelona in 1993. The SEAT 600 launched in 1957. The Ibiza arrived in 1984 and the Leon in 1999.1
Seat established Cupra as a separate brand in 2018.1
European petrol cars have used EOBD since model year 2001, and European diesel cars since 2004.3
