About KTM
KTM is an Austrian maker of motorcycles. Its origins go back to 1934, when engineer Hans Trunkenpolz started a metalworking and car repair shop in Mattighofen, Austria. The shop grew into the motorcycle maker KTM.1
In November 2025, Bajaj Auto completed the acquisition of a controlling stake in KTM for 800 million euros. Its holding rose to about 75 percent.2
KTM has two divisions. KTM AG makes the motorcycles at sites in Austria and builds with partners in India and China. KTM Fahrrad GmbH, in Wels, Austria, makes bicycles.34
KTM also makes the X-Bow, a series of lightweight two-seat sports cars with carbon fiber construction. KTM competes in MotoGP.45
