About London

The London entry stands for the TX4, the London black cab. London Taxis International (LTI) introduced the TX4 in 2007. It followed the TX1 of 1997 and the TXII. LTI designed and built all three.12

LTI formed after Manganese Bronze Holdings bought Carbodies and the taxi dealer Mann and Overton. Carbodies made the FX4 taxi, which began in 1958. The company later became The London Taxi Company. The TX4 had a 2.5-litre VM Motori diesel engine that met the Euro 4 limits. It worked as a taxi in more than 20 cities, including Singapore, Sydney and Melbourne.123

Manganese Bronze Holdings entered administration in October 2012. Geely already owned 20 percent of the company. In February 2013, Geely bought the main assets for 11 million pounds. They included the Coventry factory and the TX4 production line.4

The company became the London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) in 2017. LEVC launched its range-extended electric TX taxi in 2018. The catalog also has separate entries for LTI and LEVC. All three names belong to one line of taxis: LTI, then The London Taxi Company, then LEVC.45
