About Oldsmobile
Oldsmobile was an American car brand that General Motors produced for most of its existence. Ransom E. Olds founded the company in 1897. R. E. Olds sold the company to General Motors in 1908. The division ceased operations on April 29, 2004.12
Oldsmobile introduced the Curved Dash model in 1901. In 1940, it was the first GM division to offer a fully automatic transmission. In 1966, Oldsmobile offered front-wheel drive in the Toronado.1
The 442 and Cutlass models led to large sales growth in the 1960s and 1970s.1
Sales peaked at 1.07 million cars in 1985, when the midsize Cutlass models led the range. Oldsmobile sold 331,287 vehicles in 1996, its worst year since 1961.1
New gasoline and alternative fuel cars and trucks sold in the United States have needed OBD II systems since the 1996 model year. Oldsmobile cars built from that year onward support OBD-II.3
