About MAN

MAN Truck & Bus SE is a German maker of commercial vehicles with headquarters in Munich, Bavaria. Traton, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, owns it.1

The company traces its roots to Maschinenfabrik Augsburg, where the first diesel engine prototype ran under its own power in 1893. In 1897, MAN presented the first fully working self-ignition diesel engine, together with its inventor, Rudolf Diesel.2

MAN makes trucks from 7.49 to 44 tonnes gross vehicle weight and heavy vehicles for road trains of up to 250 tonnes. It also makes city and intercity buses, coaches, bus chassis, and diesel and natural-gas engines. Neoplan, which makes premium coaches and buses, belongs to MAN Truck & Bus.1
