About Mitsubishi
Mitsubishi Motors is a Japanese automaker. It was established on April 22, 1970, as a company wholly owned by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Its car history goes back to 1917, when the company started production of the Model A, the first series-produced passenger car in Japan. The head office is in Minato, Tokyo.123
Nissan Motor and Mitsubishi Corporation are the major shareholders of the company.1
Key models include the Lancer Evolution, the Pajero, the Outlander and the Eclipse Cross. The fifth-generation Lancer formed the base of the Lancer Evolution series, which became known in the World Rally Championship. The company announced the mass production of the i-MiEV electric car in 2009.34
New gasoline and alternative fuel cars and trucks sold in the United States have needed OBD II systems since the 1996 model year. Mitsubishi cars sold there since that year support OBD-II.5
