About LDV

LDV Group was a British maker of vans in Washwood Heath, Birmingham. LDV formed in April 1993 as Leyland DAF Vans after a management buyout of the van division of DAF NV. It became LDV in January 1994.12

LDV entered administration in December 2005. Sun Capital Partners then rescued the company. The Russian maker GAZ bought it in 2006.134

The Pilot and the Convoy were based on the British Leyland Sherpa. The Cub, from 1998, was a rebadged Nissan Vanette Cargo. The Maxus was developed with Daewoo Motors and launched in 2004.234

Production stopped in December 2008, and the company went into administration in 2009. Administrators sold the intellectual property to the Chinese firm Eco Concept on October 15, 2009. Eco Concept sold it to SAIC Motor in 2010. The Maxus brand continued under SAIC in China from March 2011.145
