About Kia
Kia is a South Korean automaker with headquarters in Seoul. The company began in May 1944 as Kyungsung Precision Industry. It first made bicycles. Hyundai Motor Company is the largest shareholder, with about 35 percent of Kia.123
Kia sells the Sportage, Seltos and Sorento SUVs. It also sells the Telluride SUV and the K5 sedan. In 2025, Kia sold a record 3.135 million vehicles worldwide.45
The EV6 and EV9 are electric models from Kia. In 2021, Kia announced a plan to sell only electric cars in Europe by 2035.46
Kia cars sold in the United States since 1996 support OBD-II. European petrol cars have used EOBD since model year 2001.78
