How to read a parameter card

Absolute evap system vapor pressure EVAP_VPAConfirmed

Normally obtained from a sensor located in the fuel tank or a sensor in an evaporative system vapor line.

  • Request01 53
  • Service 01PID 53
  • Module7E0 → 7E8
  • Every1 s

Bits 0 to 15 of the reply, 16 bits.

Formula
(val ÷ 200)
Range
0 to 327.675 kPa
Unit
kPa

Confirmed for 2020. Supported for 2021 to 2022.

  1. The parameter's name and its ID in the OBDb. Confirmed shows when a response from a real car confirms the parameter.
  2. The clutch mark shows a Connectable, a parameter that Pelican surfaces in its interface.
  3. The service and PID/DID asked for, the control module it's sent to, and how often Pelican asks.
  4. The reply's bytes. The parameter's bytes are blue. Bytes for other parameters in the same reply are grayed out. Hover over a byte to see the parameter it represents.
  5. Where the parameter is in the response, and how Pelican converts the raw value into a value.
  6. A real reply, decoded. The raw value comes first, then the reading.
  7. Which model years have tested this parameter.

Barometric pressure BAROSAE J1979Confirmed

Normally obtained from one of a dedicated barometric sensor, a MAP sensor at key-on and during certain modes of driving, or inferred from a MAF sensor and other inputs during certain modes of driving. The control module reports BARO from whatever source it is derived from.

  • Request01 33

Confirmed for 2020. Supported for 2021 to 2022.

Calculated engine load LOAD_PCTSAE J1979Confirmed

Represents the amount of work the engine is doing. Expected to reach 100% at wide open throttle/wide open pedal at any altitude, temperature or rpm for both naturally aspirated and boosted engines. If engine load is limited for powertrain protection e.g. engine/turbocharger protection, this value may not reach 100%. For hybrid vehicles, indicates the torque produced only by the internal combustion engine, not the torque being delivered by the entire powertrain. For electric vehicles, the meaning of this parameter is undefined.

Pelican can show this parameter as the engine load.

  • Request01 04

Engine coolant temperature ECTSAE J1979Confirmed

Your engine temperature must operate within a certain temperature range to operate efficiently and safely. If it runs too hot, then your engine could be permanently damaged. If it runs too cold, then your engine will use more fuel than necessary.

Pelican can show this parameter as the engine coolant temperature.
